OLKLIN-SA has been traditionally the product of choice for use as a flocculent in the clarification and filtration of sugar cane juice. OLKLIN-SA was developed to increase settling rate and thereby reducing the retention time in the clarification stage.
Because, the use of the product will depend on local conditions, laboratory trials are strongly recommended.

Preparation: A 0.1% solution should be prepared (1 kg per 1000 litres of soft water at a temperature of 50-60°C) in a mixing tank filled with air spurge pipe, stirrer or slow speed paddle for agitation of no more than 400 rpm.
The solution should be aged for a minimum of 2 hours in a holding tank. Enough solution should be made up for one shift or one day operation (but no more) as flocculent solution will lose its activity after 24 hours.
Use: OLKLIN-SA should be added to the limed juice before entry into the clarifier. Best results are achieved by allowing the flocculent solution 2-3 minutes of gentle mixing with the process stream before entering the clarifier, via an in-line mixer. Recommended dosage is 1-3ppm on juice weight.
++Average value given for determination of preparation and dosing equipment for which a viscosity 10 times lower can be used.
Flocculants are hygroscopic. Product should be stored in a dry place at a temperature below 35°C. Do not store outside. Spillage should be cleaned up rapidly, surfaces become slippery. Hazardous if flocculants are spread on the floor.
