APPLICATION
Uses:
This product is used in the following liquid-solid separation processes:
- Mechanical dewatering – treating inorganic sludge for increased throughput, solids recovery, and effluent quality.
- Gravity settling – improves the formation of flocs for faster settling rates, increased sludge compaction, and improved water quality.
- Coagulant aid – settling aid with inorganic and organic coagulants.
- Filtration – improves filtered water quality and plant throughput.
- Water clarification – improves influent, process and effluent water quality by reducing suspended solids and turbidity.
- Phosphate removal in waste water treatment.
The above are some of the primary applications for this product. It may be beneficial in any liquid-solid separation process.
USAGE METHODOLOGY:
Stock solutions can be prepared up to 0.5% concentration via an automated make down unit or on a batch basis.
In laboratories, the stock solution can be prepared of 0.5% which will remain stable for 8-10 days but a use concentration of 0.1% solution must be used up in 1-4 days.
Solutions should be aged 30-60 minutes to achieve maximum effectiveness. High quality make up water should be used.
Secondary dilution water should be added to the stock solution prior to the addition point at a ratio of at least 10:1. Avoid using centrifugal pumps to transfer the polymer.
ADVANTAGES:
- Economical to use – effective at low dosage levels.
- Performs well over a wide pH range, it does not alter the system pH.
- Eliminates or reduces the use of inorganic salts.
- Fast settling rates.
- Achieves high solids removal efficiencies.
- Easily soluble in water.
- Dry product minimizes storage equipment.
STORAGE AND HANDLING
Flocculants are hygroscopic. Store in dry place at a temperature below 35°C.
Spillages should be cleaned up rapidly; surfaces will become very slippery if wetted.
